Focused on the Essentials at the Scene of the Emergency

By using NIDA, paramedics do not have to complete elaborate and time-consuming operation protocols any more. Patient data, diagnoses and measures can be collected intuitively, quickly and easily. All data can be collected by simply touching the screen. The protocol structure in NIDA is simple and clearly arranged. The user is supported by pick lists and simplifications, e.g. for entering the time. Moreover, customised protocols for different kinds of operation are available, such as for patient transportation, emergencies and intensive care transfers. In this way, NIDA facilitates an intelligent and convenient electronic patient care reporting (ePCR).

Alert

Fast and Complete Communication of Comprehensive Information

The dispatch centre has a key role in managing and coordinating emergency operations. With NIDA, the dispatch centre can electronically transfer operation details to the mobile teams. Thus, they no longer need to rely on radio communication and can save valuable time in critical situations. Moreover, mistakes and misunderstandings due to radio interferences can be avoided.

When using NIDA, the mobile emergency unit receives all the information about an operation at a glance. The dispatch centre can communicate new operations as well as updates.

Seamless Coordination between Dispatchers and Mobile Rescue Teams

Dispatchers offer valuable assistance to patient care at the scene of an incident. For example, they coordinate additional support for the ambulance crew and organise the patient admission at the hospital. When communication with the mobile team only relies on a radio connection, the dispatcher often only receives incomplete information. These problems can be avoided by using NIDA.

Documentation

NIDA: Your Emergency Information and Documentation Assistant

In the case of an emergency, every second counts. With NIDA, the ambulance crew receives the details of an incoming operation from the dispatch centre directly on their NIDApad, a very efficient tablet computer, especially developed for EMS. This information is structured, comprehensive and clear. Therefore, they reach the scene of an incident swiftly and safely and can prepare themselves for the situation awaiting them. The operation documentation and later data transfer to the admitting hospital can be performed easily and intuitively, as well.

NIDA is a powerful hardware and software solution with special modules for different operation scenarios. Due to the system’s high flexibility and customisability, a large variety of mobile applications can be created in order to improve processes. In this way, paramedics receive decisive information just when they need it.

Medical Engineering Devices

Seamless Integration of Medical Devices into the Operation Documentation

This NIDAmobile module supports the complete and easy integration of patient-specific medical device data into the operation documentation. In this context, the instrument settings of a patient (e.g. respiratory rate) as well as measured data (such as vital signs, alarms and rest ECGs) can be taken into consideration.

The paramedic can concentrate on the patient while NIDA generates all the relevant data automatically. At the same time, the application checks whether the data is complete, even in the event of temporary connection failures.

In particular, two devices are relevant for rescue services: ECG unit and respirator. Both medical devices collect decisive data for the complete operation documentation. Currently, the following medical engineering devices are integrated into NIDA:

  • corpuls 08/16 by GS Elektromedizinische Geräte
  • corpuls 3 by GS Elektromedizinische Geräte
  • Lifepak 12/15 by Medtronic Physio Control
  • Medumat Transport by Weinmann
  • Medumat Standard2 by Weinmann
  • Oxylog VE 300 by Dräger
  • alphacheck professional by iSense
  • cobas h 232 by Roche

The application automatically imports the measured data, events, ECGs and rest ECGs, vital parameters, instrument settings, alarms and the patient data of these devices into the documentation.

alphacheck professional

The Glucometer for the Quantitative Measurement of the Blood Sugar Level

Paramedics can use alphacheck professional NFC by iSense for the quantitative measurement of the blood sugar level in fresh capillary whole blood.

Used in combination, alphacheck professional NFC and NIDApad allow the easy measurement of the blood sugar level. The subsequent transfer of data can be handled easily and securely with a wireless connection. The measured blood sugar value can be imported into the emergency protocol by simply holding these devices next to each other. It is really that simple. At the same time, the clock time of your alphacheck professional is set.

Protocols

Comprehensive and Easy-to-Use Electronic Patient Care Reporting

NIDA facilitates an intelligent and convenient electronic patient care reporting (ePCR). In addition, NIDA offers direct voice connectivity to the user.

Emergency Protocol

Fulfilling Documentation Obligations Easily

There are specific documentation obligations in cases of emergency operations. Patient and operation data has to be collected. All information about the patient and the performed measures must be documented. When the patient is handed over to the admitting hospital or when the operation is completed, a protocol has to be generated and signed. In this context, it is important to create a complete emergency protocol because this is a decisive basis of information for the subsequent patient care. In addition, it can be used as a piece of evidence in the event of liability.

With NIDAmobile, mobile rescue teams are able to fulfil their mandatory documentation completely and quickly. All patient- and operation-specific data can be easily documented. Thus, paramedics can minimise the time spent on administrative tasks and concentrate on the medical care of their patients. The transfer of the patient to the admitting hospital can run smoothly.

Mobile Intensive Care Protocol

Optimum Handling of Intensive Care Transportation

In contrast to an emergency or patient transport, the requirements for the documentation of an intensive care transport are very specific. Patient information, such as diagnoses, current respiratory and haemodynamic situation and medication, has to be monitored during the transport and communicated from the discharging to the admitting hospital. Moreover, it is decisive whether the mobile intensive care unit has to consider anything specific for the transportation of a patient and which medical devices are necessary.

medDV developed NIDAmobile for these specific circumstances. Besides the additionally necessary scores, the focus is on the documentation of the patient’s condition when taking him over from the discharging hospital and during the transportation.

These system adaptions were made and tested in cooperation with a ground intensive care transportation facility and with an intensive care helicopter unit. The default settings of NIDAmobile can easily be customised to your specific requirements.

Patient Transportation Protocol

Running Patient Transportation Efficiently and Conveniently

We have developed a specific module in NIDAmobile for carrying out and invoicing patient transports. Unlike cases of emergencies and intensive care transports, the medical documentation plays a minor role in this context.

This NIDA module is a streamlined and cost-effective solution. It supports the easy and rapid collection of all data that is relevant for accounting and billing.

NIDAmci

Being Informed and Acting Securely

In the event of a mass casualty incident (MCI), mobile rescue teams can quickly reach their limits. NIDA supports ambulances on the site of the incident with a special documentation system. In the case of an MCI, the complete documentation is not possible immediately. NIDAmci offers a fast entry module in order to simplify this phase of an operation.

With only one click, the user can convert his familiar surface. He is now able to work on his tasks with his familiar input elements even in MCI surroundings. A flexible system, consisting of mobile units, servers and data transmission methods, ensures that all collected data is available where it is needed. To this end, NIDAmci uses the data transfer from pad to pad. It is also directly available in the incident command system. The pre-registration function facilitates patient transfer to the admitting hospital. Every NIDA user can view and complement the documentation on a patient. This significantly supports the organisation and execution of an operation.

Due to its high flexibility, the system can easily be adapted to different operation scenarios. For example, it might be reasonable to use NIDAmci for minor car accidents with only a few injured people in order to do the basic patient data collection. In this way, users can train with this solution in standard situations and gain the necessary safety and routine for MCI operations.

Accounting & Billing

NIDA simplifies Accounting Processes

Most accounting and ERP systems use so-called master data. This includes, among others, cost units, vehicle radio call signs and lists of personnel, tariffs and towns. With NIDA, this master data can be provided for the mobile unit and can also be updated by the ambulance crew. Moreoever, the data of the electronic health card can be imported. In this way, the subsequent accounting of operations can be significantly simplified.

In contrast to handwritten protocols, digital pens or other data collection systems, NIDA is able to check the completeness of protocols directly at the scene of the emergency and to notify the user of errors. By importing the master data of the invoicing system, data entry is facilitated and manual editing can be minimised. The subsequent data transfer to the invoicing system can be performed in various ways, depending on which software solution is used.

NIDA integrates various solutions for accounting and billing, such as inter-BOS, ISE, Swissphone and EMC.
